President Donald Trump returns to the White House after three nights in hospital being treated for COVID-19.

Coming back to Pennsylvania Avenue from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to continue his treatment, Mr Trump removed his mask for photographers and for a video message on social media on the balcony of the White House.

This move caused concern as the president may be still infectious.

In the footage, posted on Twitter today at 12.59 am EST, he said: "Don't let it [coronavirus] dominate you. Don't be afraid of it."

He added: "Now I'm better, maybe I'm immune, I don't know". This contradicts the World Health Organization's guidance that suggests it is unknown whether those who have recovered from the virus are immune from a second infection.

His physician suggests that the president "may not entirely be out of the woods yet".

Mr Trump also said that vaccines for COVID-19 were "coming momentarily" although the US Centers for Disease Control estimates that no vaccine will be available to the public until mid-2021.

This comes as President Trump's campaign for the November presidential election was turned upside down by his positive testing for coronavirus.

America has had a total of over 7 million cases and 210,000 deaths from COVID-19.
