The "strike system" being introduced will permanently suspend Twitter accounts after the fifth warning over a misleading tweet.
This comes as the social media giant said that it will start to label deceiving tweets about COVID-19 vaccines, which in turn would earn a strike against the user.
Since 2020, Twitter has been trying to tackle coronavirus misinformation, especially surrounding vaccines and their effects.
This has led to the removal of over 8,000 tweets that have violated Twitter's COVID-19 information guidelines.
