The Justice and Development Party have been holding party rallies in various regions of the country, most attended by the President himself, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and these have been linked to high cases within those regions by medical professionals.

The country has had over 28,000 deaths caused by coronavirus.

A political rally from the party, for example, was held in Rize which has recorded around 200 coronavirus cases per 100,000 people.

Another region, Ordu, which also had an AK Party event held there has the highest rate of cases per 100,000 in Turkey, standing at 228 cases.

The Turkish government has been accused of ignoring the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Turkish Medical Association.
