Students suffering from sleep deprivation need one hour more in bed

Experts suggest that by moving school times later in the day, in order for students to get their required amount of hours of sleep.


Sleep deprivation as caused approximately 50% of college students to show signs of sleepiness during the day.



Students get between 6 - 7 hours of sleep each night, on average. However, according to the Nationwide Children's Hospital suggests that teenagers require between 9 - 9.25 hours of sleep per night.

A lack of sleep can cause many physical and mental health issues, such as anxiety, poor educational performances and in some cases, obesity.


Sleep deprivation can be caused by many factors. The contribution of caffeine drinks, technology, stress, multiple academic deadlines or existing sleep disorders could be just a few of the reasons.
