Storm Francis brings strong winds as fast as 70 mph to batter the UK and fresh weather warnings.

Injuries caused by "flying debris" and huge waves that could endanger lives have been warned by the Met Office.

Storm Francis has also brought heavy rain and flooding, the worst of which is expected to mostly affect those in Northern Ireland and south-west Scotland.

Across most of England and Wales, there is a yellow warning issued by the Met Office for wind which is in place until Wednesday at 6 am. Two other warnings for rain that cover most of the UK are also in place until Wednesday morning.

UK commuters have been warned of travel disruptions due to closed roads and train cancellations and delays.

Extensive flooding in rivers in south Wales has led to nine people and two dogs having to be rescued by firefighters in St Clears, Carmarthenshire.

Storm Francis closely following Storm Ellen from last week, marks the first time since 2015 that the Met Office has had two named storms in August.
