Storm Ellen batters the UK and kills two

Concerns of the dangers of Storm Ellen rise as a man has died after getting into the sea off the Cornish coast.


The holidaymaker from London, who was in his 50s, was found and pulled from the sea near Helston on Thursday afternoon but died shortly after, according to Devon and Cornwall police.


Police in South Wales also recorded an incident where a teenage girl died yesterday evening in east Cardiff.


The 15-year-old was found over an hour after emergency services had been called out to a river in Ball Lane, Llanrumney, she passed away shortly after.


Strong winds have battered the UK, causing travel issues and huge waves as the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for England yesterday.


45 to 50mph winds have been forecasted for inland areas while 60mph winds were forecast for coastlines.


Police services have warned that communities may be flooded as 9 foot high waves have been predicted.


Across the UK yesterday, some ten flood warnings were issued while another 35 were given to several places across the south-west by the Environment Agency.
