Russia's coronavirus vaccine will be free for Russian citizens and $20 or less per person for international buyers, their official social media account has announced today.
The two-shot vaccine, although cheaper than rival vaccines, will be as equally as effective, according to Kirill Dmitriev, the CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
The Sputnik V vaccine, trialled on confirmed COVID-19 cases, has proved to be 91 per cent effective after 28 days and 95 per cent effective after 42 days.
New data of the vaccine has shown no serious side effects from people during the trials since the beginning of November. However, possible side effects include headaches, a fever or tiredness.
Sputnik V joins the global movement of several pharmaceutical and drug companies releasing their versions of vaccines to fight COVID-19.
