A lesbian couple claims that they were "jeered at" by takeaway staff Nottingham in the early hours of Monday morning.

Alice Bowerman, 31 and Terri-Ann Metcalfe, 34, went to a kebab takeaway called Marmaris after a night out. They were shocked and angered by staff who said that they didn't want to see the couple kissing.

When asked if the staff would treat a man and a woman the same way if they had kissed, the staff allegedly replied, 'No, because that's normal.'

The couple, who have been together for two years, said that none of the other customers who were present at the takeaway intervened.

The manager of Marmaris has yet to come forward with a comment.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police had reports of a hate incident early on Monday morning, and they are in the process of investigating it.
