British athlete, Bianca Williams, receives an apology from the Metropolitan Police after she was pulled over with her partner and son in a stop-and-search on Saturday in London.
The Team GB sprinter accused the force of racial profiling, and the Met has since referred itself to the police watchdog.
Footage posted online by Linford Christie, a former Olympic medalist, shows Ms Williams was pulled over with her partner and three-month-old son in the Mercedes. The video then allegedly shows Ms Williams and her partner being dragged from the car. They were then handcuffed and separated from their son.
The search was carried out as police were patrolling the area of Maida Vale after reports of increasing violence involving weaponry. Nothing was found in search of Ms Williams or her car.
The police maintain that the car was being driven suspiciously on the wrong side of the road. Moreover, they say that when the driver was asked to stop, the vehicle sped off. Ms Williams denies that this happened.
Despite Ms Williams' comments on racial profiling as well as two reviews of professional standards by the force's directorate, Dame Cressida Dick, the Met Commissioner, said that there was no misconduct found in the officers at the scene.
According to Dame Cressida, a senior officer will review the Met's method of handcuffing, to make sure that it has not become the "default" practice.
