According to her publicist, the US singer and co-founder of the Supremes was found dead at her house in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It is not clear as of yet what the cause of death was.
The Supremes, a Motown group known for hits such as 'You Can't Hurry Love' and 'Baby Love', were a flourishing act in the 1960s, with a great amount of success that saw them into becoming the best charting female group in America as well as one of the all-time best-selling girl groups in the world.
Wilson remained a member of The Supremes until their group broke down at the end of the 60s and in recent years she became an inspirational advocate for musician's rights.
The saddened passing of the diva has caused a wave of condolences from social media.
