Morgan Carey is thought to be suing the US singer for defamation and emotional distress caused by his sister's book, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey.

He claims that the memoir, published in September 2020, suggests he was violent towards their father when Mariah was relatively young, and as a result, he has suffered severe mental issues as well as "serious damage to his reputation".

Specific passages within the book reference a domestic violence incident were 12 police officers were called. However, Morgan called the passages "fictional" as the number of officers mentioned in the incident was unrealistic.

Other accusations also include attempts to extort money from the American singer-songwriter.

The papers filed by his legal team highlighted that Morgan is "by no means envious of his sister's enormous artistic and personal success" and that he has "always wished her well", however "his sister's betrayals and malicious falsehoods" had prompted the legal action.

This comes just a month after Mariah's sister, Alison, sued the pop star over the same memoir that suggested Alison had pimped out Mariah when she was a child.

Alison denied the memoir's claims, calling them "outrageous" and stating her sister had no proof for the severe allegations.
