Kamala Harris makes history as she becomes the first Black female and first Asian American to accept the Democratic vice-presidential nomination.

Harris is the fourth woman in America's history to be nominated for a presidential ticket.

The 55-year-old Californian senator spoke from the convention center in Wilmington, Delaware last night about the leadership of Donald Trump, which she described as divisive and destructive.

She stated that he was a president who "turns our tragedies into political weapons".

In her speech, she recalled her parent's political activism when she was younger, with her mother being an American cancer researcher born in India and her father being an American economist from Jamaica.

Harris became the district attorney of San Francisco and the attorney general of California back in 2003 and then she became the second Black woman in the Senate.

Harris' speech on Wednesday ended the third evening of the online Democratic national convention.
