Thousands rally in Hong Kong #MeToo protest against police on Wednesday evening.

This comes as allegations of sexual assault from police officers have arisen during recent protest marches in the Chinese region.

A specific case that sparked the protest was concerning a female police officer, who reportedly conducted an unnecessary search on a naked arrested woman last Friday, the officer did not use gloves in the search and allegedly used a pen to force the arrestee's legs open.

However, police in Hong Kong have said that online rumours of sexual harassment towards protesters are false and that they have respected the rights of their detainees.

According to local media, it is unclear as to how many people attended the protest in Chater Garden; organisers claim it was around 30,000 while police suggest around 11, 500 people took part.
