The Uttarakhand government believes that 18 people have also died in the incident which sent a flood of water and rock into a valley below Nanda Devi yesterday.
As the glacier broke away, it damaged two hydroelectric government projects in the Rishiganga river and the Dhauliganga river.
Around 2,000 people make up the Indian rescue team to find those missing and free workers who appear to be trapped in tunnels around the local area.
It is currently unclear as to the cause of the glacier breakage, scientists are travelling to the area today to figure out what has occurred and why.
Some scientists believe that it was due to hefty amounts of snow melting on the mountain and causing an avalanche.
Some environmental groups have highlighted the explosives used for construction activity in the mountains, despite their clear violation of government guidelines, as a possible cause of the disaster.
