The European Union (EU) begins legal action against the UK as the deadline to remove aspects of the divorce bill expired yesterday.
As sections of the Internal Market Bill were not removed in enough time, this could lead to the case being taken to the European Court of Justice.
Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has given the UK government till the end of next month to address their concerns.
The current draft bill, she said, was a "full contradiction" of the UK's initial plans over Ireland's borders.
A government spokesperson has stated that the EU's "letter of formal notice" would be responded to "in due course".
