Environment - are we doing enough?

After the massive uproar about the 5p plastic bag charge was enforced and the news that the ozone layer was gradually healing up, it would seem that we have done enough as a country to be as environment-friendly as possible.
Or have we?

Every Friday we are reminded of our contribution to a lower carbon footprint through the sound of sirens, and swearing drivers doing the school dash. However, is it enough? News headlines such as these are commonplace nowadays:
"Wildlife conservators have said they are "extremely concerned" that the number of little terns nesting in the UK's biggest breeding colony dropped by almost half in a year."
The United Kingdom is rated the 6th most 'environmentally friendly' country in the world, just behind Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Whichever way you look at it, it seems too early to tell as climate change, and the environment are relatively recent topics for discussion. Until a third party can measure precisely and fairly the amount done or needed, we should be continuing to do all that we can for the world we so commonly take for granted.
