The 2020 US presidential election could have the highest voter turnout in over 100 years, new data from the US Elections Project published yesterday.
This comes as over 50 million of America's electorate has cast their vote with just 11 days to spare.
According to Michael McDonald from the University of Florida, if current trends of early voting continue, it is thought that 65% of the electorate will participate in the election, which would break records of turnout from back in 1908.
Many states including Texas, Georgia and Ohio have had very high levels of people casting their ballots early for the November Presidential Election.
Other US states have expanded their in-person as well as their mail-in ballot systems, to ensure safe voting during the pandemic.
However, some political experts warn that certain voter's ballots could be rejected from being counted.
Michael Herron, a professor at Dartmouth and Daniel Smith, a political scientist from the University of Florida, said: "Racial minorities and Democrats are disproportionately more likely to have cast mail ballots this election that face rejection,"
