Dominic Cummings will leave Downing St by the end of 2020.

This comes as tensions rise in No.10 which prompted the departure of the director of communications, Lee Cain, yesterday.

Earlier this year, Mr Cummings said in a blog post that he would "largely" remove himself from his senior advisor position in government by Christmas.

Rumours of Mr Cummings threatening to leave Boris Johnson's team had circulated earlier this week, however, Mr Cummings said that these rumours were "invented".

Mr Cummings has been a valuable advisor to the Prime Minister, for example, assisting Mr Johnson in 2019 with winning a majority in Parliament.

But Mr Cummings' position came under scrutiny and criticism earlier this year, when he travelled Durham during the thick of the first COVID-19 lockdown and when non-essential travel was prohibited.
