Crimson Tide fans gather in thousands after nationals win

Alabama football fans ignored city officials' advice to stay at home and gathered in their thousands to celebrate their team's national championship win on Monday.

Around 5,000 fans got together on the Strip in Tuscaloosa, to celebrate Crimson Tide's win against Ohio State Monday evening.

Many of those that came did not socially distance, nor did they wear face coverings, photos reveal.

There were also reports of a brawl in the crowd which resulted in 14 people being arrested.

It is thought that after this celebration of a 52-24 win over Ohio State, that there will be a spike in COVID-19 cases in the city.

This comes as not only Tuscaloosa county but Alabama as a whole is dealing with a surge of coronavirus cases in recent days with limited hospital and law enforcement resources available to tackle the spread.
