Cheer star arrested for requesting explicit child images

Jerry Harris, shown for his work in the Netflix show Cheer, was arrested yesterday on charges of production of child sex pictures.

He later appeared in court in Chicago on Thursday.

This comes as the 21-year-old US star admitted to the FBI, after they raided his home, that he had asked a teenage boy to send sexually explicit photos of himself on Snapchat.

It revealed that Harris repeatedly asked the teen for this explicit material from as early as December 2018.

Reportedly Harris also admitted to the authorities that he had requested and subsequently received child sexual abuse pictures from at least "10 to 15 other individuals he knew were minors".

Despite this, a spokesperson for Harris has denied the allegations in an interview with CNN.

According to US media, in court the judge said that a hearing would take place on Monday, to decide whether Harris would stay in custody or released on bail.

If Harris were convicted on a child pornography charge, he could face up to 30 years in jail.
