Police shut down an illegal French New Year's Eve rave which broke coronavirus rules.

The police were met with violence and fire, resulting in three officers being injured.

Around 2,500 ravers attended the warehouse party in Brittany, which was due to continue until the 5th of January.

The police made several arrests and issued fines to the organisers and reportedly British and Spanish party-goers.

Not only did this event break the 8 pm curfew, but the attendees were also not wearing masks and not socially distanced.

Those that did attend the illegal gathering have been advised to quarantine for a week.

This comes as France has had nearly 3 million COVID-19 cases since the beginning of the pandemic.
