The explosion occurred at the company's largest steelworks around 3 am this morning, residents of Port Talbot (near to the steelworks) were woken by the sound of the explosion and the shaking of their properties.
Reports suggest that a train carrying molten metal into the steelworks was the cause of the explosion.
Two employees who were at the site, during the explosion, were injured by the spillage of liquid iron. But the company confirmed on social media, that there were no 'serious injuries'.
All other employees have been accounted for, and the fires caused by the explosion have been extinguished.
Four hours after the explosion, the site was reopened, and the damage of the blast is being examined.
