BBC broadcasters and freelancers are angry after the new director general's comments on social media restrictions made last week.
Tim Davie called for greater impartiality from BBC presenters and reporters in a speech made in Cardiff on Thursday.
Big names, such as Laura Kuenssberg and Andrew Neil, have been accused of showing their true and opinionated views on Twitter. Kuenssberg has denied this.
Those who regularly contribute to the BBC but are not included amongst staff members were curious whether the new rules would apply to them.
This comes from a wider drawback of the BBC which started last year, when the head of BBC News, Fran Unsworth, called on several occasions for more discipline from reporters.
The new regulations surrounding partisan or biased tweeting may lead to a new generation of journalists, who have used Twitter to share their work and breaking news, having almost to unlearn what they have been taught and revert to more old-school rules.
